This update process requires the following items for proper updating:
- A computer with:
- Available Hard Disk Space: 5MB or more
- Installed Memory: 32MB or more
- A USB port (requires the USB cable and cradle that shipped with the camera*), a Memory Stick slot or an attached Memory Stick / Memory Stick Pro reader / writer
*Update functionality is not guaranteed if you use another commercially available USB cable. - One of these operating systems installed:

- Camera power supply:
- Use only the AC-LM5 AC adapter that is supplied with a DSC-T1 camera.
WARNING!!: You cannot update the firmware when the camera is running on NP-FT1 InfoLITHIUM battery. It is extremely important to ensure that the camera AC power source is not interrupted during this process. The camera may be rendered inoperable if the camera power fails during this update.
- Use only the AC-LM5 AC adapter that is supplied with a DSC-T1 camera.
- Memory Stick Duo™/Memory Stick Pro Duo™ media that was recently formatted with the camera.
It is recommended that you use the Memory Stick Duo™ media supplied with the camera or one that is similar. - For the Windows 2000 and XP Operating System Only: During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
- To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
