1. BEFORE installing this update, it is necessary to identify the DVD/CD Drive installed on the computer, which will determine whether or not this update is required.
   1. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel".
   2. At the "Control panel" window, click the System icon.
   3. At the "System properties" box, click the "Hardware" tab and then click the "Device Manager" button.
   4. At the "Device Manager" window, click the "+" sign next to the "DVD/CD-ROM drives" category to expand the menu.
   5. One of the devices listed should be "TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R5002".
      • If this device is listed, please continue with this update.
      • If it is NOT, then this update is NOT for your computer.
2. Download the TO-41S330801AZ04US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double click the TO-41S330801AZ04US.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. At the "Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-RW Firmware Update..." window, click "Next".
5. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree".
6. At the "To rewrite firmware, change your setting system setting and reboot. Close all the active windows. Click OK to reboot" message box, click "OK".
   NOTE: The computer will restart and the firmware update will continue after Windows restarts.
7. At the "[CAUTION]....." message box, click "OK".
8. At the "DVD Drive" message box, confirm that "Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-R5002" is highlighted, and click "Update Start".
9. At the "Information" screen, click "OK".
   NOTE: Please wait while the DVD-RW ROM firmware is upgraded.
   WARNING!!: Do not interrupt the update process, as it may damage the drive.
10. "At firmware update is completed....." message box, click "OK" to restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Toshiba® DVD-RW Drive Firmware update is complete.

This utility updates the firmware for the Toshiba® SD-R5002 DVD-RW drive to improve drive performance when writing to high-speed CD-R/RW media.

• WARNING!!: This firmware update is specifically for the Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-RW drives. Do not run this update if you do not have one of these drives in the computer, as it may render the drive or system inoperable. Use the steps below to check whether or not your computer has the Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD-RW Drive installed.
• Before launching the firmware update, it is necessary to disconnect all peripherals devices, disconnect all network cable, and do not enter Standby or Hibernation mode during this update.
• Please eject any discs that may be in the DVD-ROM drive before you run this update.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs (including screensaver and virus detection software). The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
