1. Download the SOQ2105NCU.EXE and SOQ1305BBT2.EXE files to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Download and install the latest DirectX application from the Microsoft website.
3. Go to the directory where the files were downloaded and double-click the SOQ2105NCU.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. At the "SONY® DVgate and DV Shared Library - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If an "Information" box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the system model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 7 above.
5. At the "SONY® DVgate & DV Shared Library InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish to restart the computer.
6. After the computer has completely restarted, go to the directory where SOQ1305BBT2.EXE was downloaded and double-click the SOQ1305BBT2.EXE file to begin the installation.
7. At the "SONY® DVgate Patch (Part 2) - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If an "Information" box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the system model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 10 above.
8. At the "Information" box prompting you to select "No, I will restart my computer later.", click OK.
9. At the "Patch for Sony DV Shared Library Setup" screen, click Next.
10. At the "Patch for Sony DV Shared Library Setup InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "No, I will restart my computer later" and click Finish.
    NOTE: If the option "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected by accident, some error messages may appear. If they do, click either OK or Close to ignore these messages. The software installation WILL NOT be affected and will continue successfully.
11. At the "SONY® DVgate Patch for Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, Me & 2000 (Part 2) Setup InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish to restart the computer.
12. After the computer restarts, the installation of the SONY® DVgate Software Update Utility is complete.
    NOTE: If you have not already done so, please download and install the latest DirectX program update from the Microsoft website.
13. Please continue with the "Reset Jog Dial to Launch the DVgate Application" section below.

This next section of the update process explains how to reset the Jog Dial to launch the DVgate™ application. The steps vary according to the version of Jog Dial installed on the system. To check the version number, right-click the Jog Dial icon located in the Windows taskbar, and click Version Information.

Based on the version number displayed for Jog Dial, please continue with the appropriate section below.

• Jog Dial Version 3.04

1. From the "Jog Launcher" menu, click the setup button.
2. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, scroll down the list, click to highlight "DVgate Motion", and click the "Modify" button.
3. At the "Enter Application Name" windows, change the directory path for "Application name" from
   
   C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotionDVmotion.exe
   
   to
   
   C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotion2.exe
4. Change the directory path for "Working directory" from
   
   C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotion
   
   to

5. Click Next twice.
6. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, click OK.
7. At the "Assignment" screen, select "Assign to PPK function" to check both "Assign to PPK function" and "Add to the Jog Dial Launcher List" options.
8. Click "Assign to PPK function" to uncheck this option and click Finish.
9. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, scroll down the list, click and highlight "DVgate Assemble", and click the "Modify" button.
10. At the "Enter Application Name" screen, change the directory path for "Application name" from
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotionDVassmbl.exe
    
    to
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVassmbl.exe
11. Change the directory path for "Working directory" from
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotion

12. Click Next twice.
13. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, click OK.
14. At the "Assignment" screen, select "Assign to PPK function" to check both "Assign to PPK function" and "Add to the Jog Dial Launcher List" options.
15. Click "Assign to PPK function" to uncheck this option and click Finish.
16. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, scroll down the list, click to highlight "DVgate Still", and click the "Modify" button.
17. At the "Enter Application Name" screen, modify the path for "Application name" from
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVstillDVstill.exe
    
    to
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVstill.exe
18. Modify the path for "Working directory" from
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVstill
    
    to
    
    C:Program FilesSonyDVgate
19. Click Next twice.
20. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, click OK.
21. At the "Assignment" screen, select "Assign to PPK function" to check both "Assign to PPK function" and "Add to the Jog Dial Launcher List" options.
22. Click "Assign to PPK function" to uncheck this option and click Finish.
23. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, scroll down the list, click and highlight "DVgate Clip", and click the "Remove" button.
24. At the "Jog Dial Setup" screen, click OK.
25. Click OK to close the "Jog Dial Setup".

1. From the "Jog Launcher" menu, click the setup button.
2. At the "VAIO Action Setup" window, click the Application List tab.
3. From the list, click the "+" sign next to the "VAIO Software" folder.
4. Under the "VAIO Software" folder, click to highlight "DVgate Motion" and then click the "Replace..." button.
5. At the "Select Application" screen, click the "Recommended Applications" radial button.
6. From the list, click the "+" sign next to the "VAIO Software" folder.
7. Click to highlight "DVgate Motion" and then click Next.
8. At the "Confirm Application Name" window, verify the path listing for Application name is C:Program FilesSonyDVgateDVmotion2.exe
9. Make any changes necessary, and click Next.
10. At the "Input Application Name" window, change the "Configuration name" from "DVgate Motion" to "DVgate Motion2" and click Finish.
11. At the "VAIO Action Setup" screen, click Close.

• The latest Microsoft® DirectX® Application is required for this update. Please download and install it from the Microsoft® website after this update installation is complete.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
