You may need to download one or two of the executable files listed below, depending on the version of DVgate application installed on your computer. To determine which version is installed, do the following:

• Launch the DVgate Motion application.
• At the "DVgate Motion" window, click Help.
• From the Help menu, click "About DVgate Motion."
• Make note of the version number listed, and click OK.
• Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "DVgate Motion" window.

If DVgate version 1.4 to 2.0 is installed, it is necessary to download both the SOQ1305BBT1.EXE and SOQ1305BBT2.EXE files.

If DVgate version 2.1 to 2.2.0.2 is installed, you only need to download the SOQ1305BBT2.EXE file.

Please follow the steps below to download and install the DVgate Update Utility.

1. Based on the version of DVgate Motion installed on the computer (see above), download the appropriate file(s) to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Download and install the latest DirectX application from the Microsoft website.
3. Go to the directory where the SOQ1305BBT1.EXE and/or SOQ1305BBT2.EXE were downloaded.
4. If both files were downloaded, double-click the SOQ1305BBT1.EXE file to begin the installation.
   NOTE: If only the SOQ1305BBT2.EXE file was downloaded, skip to step 7 below.
5. At the "SONY® DVgate and DV Shared Library - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If an "Information" box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the system model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 4 above.
6. At the "SONY® DVgate & DV Shared Library InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish to restart the computer.
7. After the computer has completely restarted, go to the directory where SOQ1305BBT2.EXE was downloaded.
8. Double-click the SOQ1305BBT2.EXE file to begin the installation.
9. At the "SONY® DVgate Patch (Part 2) - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If an "Information" box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the system model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 7 above.
10. At the "Information" box prompting you to select "No, I will restart my computer later.", click OK.
11. At the "Patch for Sony DV Shared Library Setup" screen, click Next.
12. At the "Patch for Sony DV Shared Library Setup InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "No, I will restart my computer later" (if this option is listed) and click Finish.
    NOTE: If the option "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected by accident, some error messages may appear. If they do, click either OK or Close to ignore these messages.
    • For Windows 98SE and Windows Me systems: The software installation WILL NOT be affected and will continue successfully.
      
    • For Windows 2000 systems: The software installation WILL be affected. In this case, complete the step below, and then return to step 10 above to reinstall the SOQ1305BBT2.EXE.
13. At the "SONY® DVgate Patch for Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, Me & 2000 (Part 2) Setup InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish to restart the computer.
14. After the computer restarts, the installation of the SONY® DVgate Software Update Utility is complete.
15. If you have not already done so, please download and install the latest DirectX program update from the Microsoft website.
16. Please continue with the "Reset Jog Dial to Launch the DVgate Application" section below.

Reset Jog Dial to Launch the DVgate Application

This utility resolves the issue where the DVgate™ application does not recognize any Digital Video camcorders available on the market in the year 2002.

• The latest Microsoft® DirectX® application is required for this update. Please download and install it from the Microsoft® website after this update installation is complete.
• For Windows 2000 systems only: During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
