1. Download the SMRT1053.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SMRT1053.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. Follow the instructions in the grey dialogue box in order to close the VAIO Smart Keyboard application.
   NOTE: If the VAIO Smart Keyboard application is not closed, the upgrade may not install properly.
4. Click Next once you have closed VAIO Smart Keyboard.
5. Choose a directory where the upgrade files will be copied. Please document the directory for future reference. The default directory is recommended.
6. Click Finish to copy the files to your system.
7. At the "Copying Completed!" message, click OK.
8. At the "Warning" message, click Yes to restart your computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the VAIO Smart Keyboard Upgrade is complete.

This utility installs a VAIO Smart Keyboard Upgrade to resolve an issue where the system fails to go into standby when using the timer feature under Power Management Properties.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
