1. Download the PIII_UTL.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Save all your work and close all windows and applications.
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PIII_UTL.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. Click Next.
5. Click Finish to install the files. The files needed to update your system will be copied to C:WindowsTempIntel. You may change this directory if you wish the files to be copied elsewhere. Please note this directory for future reference.
6. Click Ok to continue installation.
7. Click Next.
8. Click Yes.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Next.
11. Check the 'I would like to launch the utility.' box.
12. Click Finish.

NOTE: A status icon will be placed on the task bar the first time this utility is run. See below for instructions on using the Intel Processor Serial Number Control Utility.

To enable or disable the serial number:

1. Click the Start button and go to Programs>Intel Processor Serial Number Control Utility>Intel Processor Serial Number Control Utility.
     -or-
   Single-click on the Intel Processor Serial Number Control Utility status icon located on the task bar.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select Enable or Disable.
4. Click Ok.
5. If you selected Enable, click Ok to restart Windows.

To disable the status icon:

1. Single-click the Intel Processor Serial Number Control Utility.
2. Select Settings.
3. Uncheck the 'Show status icon on the task bar' check box.
4. Click OK.
5. Click OK.

This utility installs the Intel Processor Serial Number Utility that allows the serial number of your Pentium III processor to be turned off or on.

• When first run this utility will turn the serial number off. This utility is designed for Pentium III processors only.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
