1. Download the PI-401100C02BS04US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double click the PI-401100C02BS04US.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Sony DVD+/-RW DW-U50A Firmware Update Utility for Microsoft® Windows® 2000 and XP " box, click Next.
4. At the "Software License Agreement" box, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree".
5. At the "DVR-K12DVA F/W1.10 (2003/12/26)" dialog box, click "Install".
6. At the "UPGDVD" dialog box, click Yes. Please wait while the DVD RW firmware is flashed.
   WARNING!!: Do not interrupt the update process, as it may damage the drive.
7. At the "UPGDVD" dialog box, click OK, then restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the firmware of the Pioneer® DVD+/-RW DVR-K12D firmware update utility is complete.

This utility updates the firmware for the Pioneer® DVD+/-RW DVR-K12D optical drive to improve the reading performance of the drive.

WARNING!!: Do not interrupt the update process, as it may damage the drive.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
