1. Download the NV-ASN030201BJ.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the NV-ASN030201BJ.EXE file to begin the installation. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as the files are extracted and the computer model is identified. As these processes complete, the boxes will close automatically.
3. At the "Information" box, insert the 3½ bootable floppy disk into the drive and click OK.
4. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish. Be sure to leave the bootable floppy disk with the Video BIOS files in the floppy drive.
5. As the computer restarts, it will boot from the floppy disk instead of the hard drive. The Video BIOS Update Utility will launch.
6. At "Press any key to continue...." , press the Enter Key.
   NOTE: As the Video BIOS is being updated, the screen will become blank for about 15 seconds. Do not interrupt this process.
7. At the "A:>" prompt, eject and remove the floppy diskette from the drive, turn off the computer and then restart.

After the computer restarts, the nVIDIA® GeForce2 MX Video BIOS update is complete.

This BIOS update resolves the issue where the BIOS screen is not displayed when an SXGA digital display is connected to the computer though the DVI connector.

• This utility is only for use with Sony® VAIO® computer systems which have the nVIDIA GeForce2 MX Video Adapter with 32 MB of SDRAM video memory installed.
• There is a related issue where the display is blank when an SXGA digital display is connected to the computer through the DVI connector with the Microsoft® Windows® Me Operating System. To resolve this issue you must also download and install an updated nVidia GeForce2 MX Graphics Controller Driver.
• Before installing this update, you will need to prepare a a 3½ bootable floppy disk to receive the Video BIOS update files. To prepare a floppy disk for use with this update, please refer to the Create A Bootable Floppy Disk procedure.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
