1. Download the MDMC1ME.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the MDMC1ME.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "HCF Modem Driver Utility for Microsoft Windows Millennium - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as temporary files are copied to the system. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-6 to reinstall the update.
4. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish. As the computer restarts, the modem hardware will be redetected and the updated drivers will be installed.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the updated modem driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to install the Conexant HCF PCI Modem Drivers again, you will need to first remove the MDMC1ME.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the MDMC1ME.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "HCF Modem Driver Utility for Microsoft Windows Millennium - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as temporary files are copied to the system. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" window, click OK to remove all of its components. Please wait as the installation files are removed.

The uninstallation process is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the MDMC1ME.EXE file.

This utility installs the Conexant HCF PCI Modem driver.

• Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
  
  
  1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
  2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device
  3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
  4. Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library
  5. Sony Motion Eye Video Capture Device Driver
  
  If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Microsoft® Windows® 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.
• Before installing Windows Millennium Edition or Sony's Windows Me software updates, please be sure to read Sony's Installing the Microsoft® Windows® Me Operating System. Most of Sony's Windows Me software updates require you to install Windows Me as an upgrade to the Sony factory-shipped version of Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition (SE).
• If a Windows Me BIOS update is available for your model of computer, be sure to install it before installing this update.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
