1. Download the MDM213A.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the MDM213A.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Conexant SoftK56 Data Fax PCI Modem Driver v2.13.12 ARCD - InstallShield Wizard" screen, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-6 to reinstall the update.
4. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish. As the computer restarts, the modem hardware will be redetected and the drivers will be installed.

The installation of the modem driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Conexant SoftK56 Data/Fax PCI Modem Drivers, you will need to first remove the MDM213A.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the MDM213A.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "Conexant SoftK56 Data Fax PCI Modem Driver v2.13.12 ARCD - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next.
3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" window, click OK to remove all of its components. Please wait as the installation files are removed.
4. At the Windows Desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
5. From the menu, click Properties.
6. At the "System Properties" box, click the Device Manager tab.
7. In the Device Manager tab, click the plus (+) next to the "Modem" category to expand it.
8. Under the "Modem" category, right-click the "Conexant SoftK56 Data,Fax PCI Modem" entry.
9. From the menu, click Remove.
10. At the "Confirm Device Removal" box, click OK.
11. Restart the computer.
    1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
    2. At the "Shut Down Windows" box, select "Restart" and click OK.

After the computer restarts, the modem hardware will be redetected and the modem driver update should automatically reinstall itself. If the modem driver does not automatically reinstall, it is recommended that you redownload and reinstall the MDM213A.EXE file.

This utility installs the Conexant SoftK56 Data/Fax PCI Modem driver.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
