Download & Install Guide:

  1. This upgrade requires that modem driver version 1.4a be installed on your computer. To check your modem driver version, do the following:
    1. Open the Windows 95 Programs menu.
    2. Select "28.8 DSVD Modem."
    3. Select "28.8 DSVD Modem Panel."
    4. When the Modem Panel opens, select "Help" on the Menu Bar.
    5. Select "About."
    6. See the third line beginning with "Tag." Any version modem driver beginning with V1.2 must be upgraded to V1.4a before installing this update.
  2. Download the FAXFFIX.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  3. Go to the folder where the FAXFFIX.EXE file was downloaded and double-click on the FAXFFIX.EXE file. The program extracts its files quickly.
  4. Close the MS-DOS window.
  5. Double-click on SETUP.EXE.
  6. Follow the instructions given in the "setup" window.
  7. Restart the computer when prompted.
  8. The upgrade is installed.
  9. You may now delete the downloaded files from your download directory.

What this drivers do:

This utility installs a Modem Software Upgrade to resolve an issue where you are unable to receive a fax after connecting--and then disconnecting--from an Internet Service Provider (ISP) while Microsoft Exchange is open in the background.

Important Note:

  • Reinstalling modem drivers or performing some recoveries may overwrite this upgrade. You may wish to store FAXFFIX.EXE on a floppy disk to reinstall in that event.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
