1. Download the ESSAUMD.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and point to Control Panel.
3. From the Control Panel menu, click Add/Remove Programs.
4. At the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" box, from the list of installed programs, look for an "ESS Audio and Modem Driver for Windows Me" entry.
   NOTE: If an "ESS Audio and Modem Driver for Windows Me" entry IS NOT listed, skip to step 7.
   NOTE: If an "ESS Audio and Modem Driver for Windows Me" entry IS listed, follow these steps to uninstall the current driver.
   1. Click the "ESS Audio and Modem Driver for Windows Me" entry to highlight it.
   2. Click the Add/Remove button.
   3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK. Please wait as the files are uninstalled.
5. Click OK to close the "Add/Remove Programs Properties" box.
6. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ESSAUMD.EXE file to begin the installation.
7. At the "ESS Maestro3 audio and modem driver - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
8. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish. As the computer restarts, the audio and modem hardware will be redetected and the updated drivers will be installed.

The installation of the ESS Audio and Modem Drivers are complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the ESS Audio/Modem Driver, you will need to first remove the ESSAUMD.EXE installation files. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the ESSAUMD.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "ESS Maestro3 audio and modem driver - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next.
3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" window, click OK to remove all of its components. Please wait as the installation files are removed.

The uninstallation process is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the ESSAUMD.EXE file.

This utility installs the ESS Modem and Audio drivers.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
