1. Download the CDRWF1P.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click CDRWF1P.EXE to begin the installation.
3. At the "CDRWF1P - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will appear during the installation of the setup files. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
4. At the "CD-RW CRX140E Drive Firmware Upgrade Utility" screen, click Next.
5. At the "Copying Files" screen, insert a formatted bootable floppy disk in the disk drive (A:) and then click Next. Please wait as the files are copied to the floppy disk.
6. At the "Setup Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected.
7. Leave the floppy disk in the drive and click Finish to restart the computer. The computer will boot from the floppy disk and run the firmware update utility.
8. At the "Do you want to upgrade the firmware ? [Y/N] =>" prompt , press the "Y" key to begin the update process. Please wait as the update process will take approximately one minute. Once the update process is complete, the computer will display a command prompt (A:).
9. Please eject the update disk from the floppy disk drive.
10. Press the CTRL+ALT+DELETE keys simultaneously to restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the update will be complete.

The internal CRX140E CD-RW drive is unable to access CDs after the computer wakes from sleep mode

• After upgrading the firmware on your CD-RW drive, you will not able to restore the earlier version of firmware.
• To install this upgrade, you will need to create a bootable floppy disk to receive the firmware update files. To prepare a floppy disk for use with this update, please refer to the Create A Bootable Floppy Disk procedure.
• The CDRWF1P.EXE file will only create the firmware upgrade disk when it is run in Windows 98 Second Edition (SE). This file will not run correctly under the Windows 2000 operating system. If Windows 2000 has been installed, the computer will need to be booted into Windows 98 SE to install this update.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
