1. Download the BIOS17U0F.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the BIOS17U0F.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "BIOS R0217UO Update Utility - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next.
   NOTE: A Command Prompt box will open and the CRISDISK utility will launch.
   NOTE: If an "Information" box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the computer model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 5 above.
4. At the "Press any key to continue . . ." prompt, press the ENTER key.
5. At the "Insert new diskette for drive A: and press ENTER when ready..." prompt, insert a floppy disk in the floppy disk drive.
   NOTE: This process will erase ALL files currently on the floppy diskette.
6. Press the ENTER key. Please wait as the diskette is formatted.
7. At the "Volume label (11 characters, ENTER for none)?" prompt, press ENTER.
8. At the "QuickFormat another (Y/N)?" prompt, press the N key and press ENTER.
9. Press ENTER a second time to continue. Please wait as the BIOS installation files are copied to the floppy disk.
10. At the "Press any key to continue..." prompt, press ENTER. Please wait as the BIOS installation disk is made bootable.
11. At the "Press any key to continue..." prompt, press ENTER.
12. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish. Be sure to leave the bootable floppy disk with the BIOS files in the floppy drive. As the computer restarts, it will boot from the floppy disk instead of the hard drive. The Phoenix Phlash Utility will launch.
13. At the "Phoenix Phlash Utility" box, press the Y key to begin the update process. Please wait as the installation of the BIOS will take one to two minutes to complete. Once the installation is complete, the computer will automatically turn off.
14. Eject the bootable BIOS installation disk from the drive.
15. Turn on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS Update is complete.

• If additional memory has been installed on this PC either by you or your retailer, DO NOT install this BIOS update. Systems containing extra RAM when the BIOS update is installed may be rendered inoperable.
• Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
• Before installing this BIOS update, please connect a floppy disk drive to the computer and make sure you have a blank 3½ floppy disk available. This program will format and create a bootable disk. All the data in the floppy will be erased when the disk is formatted!
• Please read Installing the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Operating System. If the computer will be or has been upgraded to the Windows® 2000 operating system. If the new operating system is not installed or configured correctly, some updates may not install properly.
• After installing this update, it may be necessary to remove and reinstall any installed hardware that did not ship with the computer. For assistance reinstalling this hardware, please consult the product documentation or contact the product manufacturer.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
