1. Download the AW-A10010801BN.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the AW-A10010801BM.EXE file to begin the installation. Several setup boxes will briefly appear as the files are extracted and the computer model is identified. As these processes complete, the boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If prompted to restart the computer, click OK, and after the computer restarts continue with step 5.
3. At the "Information" box, insert the 3½ bootable floppy disk into the drive and click OK.
4. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish. Be sure to leave the bootable floppy disk with the BIOS files in the floppy drive.
5. As the computer restarts, it will boot from the floppy disk instead of the hard drive. The BIOS will be updated automatically.
6. At the "A:>" prompt, eject and remove the floppy diskette from the drive.
7. Restart the computer.
8. At the black "SONY" screen, press the F2 key to enter the BIOS Setup.
9. At the "AwardBIOS Setup Utility" screen, press the ESC key.
10. From the "Exit" menu, press the DOWN ARROW key until "Load Setup Defaults" is highlighted, and then press ENTER.
11. At the "Setup Confirmation" box, verify "Yes" is highlighted and then press ENTER.
12. From the "Exit" menu, verify "Exit (Save Changes)" is highlighted and then press ENTER.
13. At the "Setup Confirmation" box, verify "Yes" is highlighted and press ENTER.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS is complete.

This program installs the original shipped BIOS, version 1001, for the Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition and Professional Operating Systems.

• Before installing this BIOS revision, you will need to prepare a 3½ bootable floppy disk to receive the BIOS installation files. For additional assistance, please see Creating a Bootable Floppy Disk for the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating Systems.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
