1. Download the ALP503KU.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ALP503KU.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "Alps 5.0.503K.3 TouchPad Driver - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue the installation.
5. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Touchpad driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Alps driver, you will need to first remove the ALP503KU.EXE installation files. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, click the "ALPS 5.0.503K.3" entry to highlight it.
4. Click the Change/Remove button.
   NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.

The uninstall process is now complete. You may redownload and reinstall the ALP503KU.EXE file.

This program installs the Alps® Pointing Device (Touchpad) driver and control utility.

• Before installing Windows 2000 Professional or this update, please be sure to read Installing the Microsoft® Windows® 2000 Operating System. Most of Sony's Windows 2000 software updates require you to install Windows 2000 Professional in C:WINNT. If Windows 2000 is not installed in this location, these updates will not install correctly.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
