1. Go to the Adaptec web site using the external link above.
   
2. Locate and click the link for "AHA-2910C".
3. Click the link "Microsoft Windows 98" and then click "Drivers for Windows 95 and 98".
4. Follow the prompts to download the 7800W9x.EXE file. Save the file to a download or temporary directory (make note of this directory for reference).
5. Go to the directory the file was downloaded to and double-click 7800w9x.EXE to begin the installation process.
6. At the WinZip Self-Extractor box, under Unzip to folder, type to REPLACE "C:WindowsTemp" WITH "A:" (no quotes) and click UnZip.
7. At the message "9 file(s) unzipped successfully", click OK.
8. At the WinZip Self-Extractor box, click Close. Leave the floppy disk in the floppy drive.
9. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
10. Double-click the Add New Hardware icon.
11. At the Add New Hardware wizard box, click Next to begin the installation.
12. Click Next to search for Plug and Play devices.
    NOTE: This step may not apply if the system was upgraded to Windows 98. If this screen does not appear, just continue with the next step.
13. Click to select "No, the Device isn't in the list"
14. Click to select "No, I want to select the hardware from a list" and click Next.
15. Under Hardware types, scroll down to SCSI controllers.
16. Click to highlight SCSI controllers, and click Next.
17. At the manufacturer and model screen, click the Have Disk... button.
18. At the Install from Disk box, under Copy manufacturer's files from, type "A:" (no quotes) and click OK.
19. Under Models, scroll down to Adaptec AIC-7860 PCI SCSI Controller.
20. Click to highlight Adaptec AIC-7860 PCI SCSI Controller and click Next.
21. Click Next to install the software.
22. Click Finish. Installation is now complete.

The next time the docking station is attached to the notebook the system will load and use the new SCSI driver.

This utility resolves an issue where the computer may stop responding, or display an error message when starting, if docked to a PCGA-DB7 or PCGA-DB8 docking station.

• Before installing this update, please connect a floppy disk drive to the computer and make sure you have a blank formatted 3½ floppy disk available.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
