Check if the DC jack is loose or damaged within the computer.
NOTE: If the DC jack on the pc is loose or damaged, the pc may require service.

Using the computer off, remove media from the CD/DVD/BD drive.
Disconnect all external devices which are connected to the computer.
NOTE: These devices include, but are not limited to, a modem, floppy disk drive, network connection, USB device, printer, keyboard, or mouse.
Connect the AC adapter into a known working AC outlet and also to the DC jack around the notebook, and then attempt to turn on the computer normally.

Verify the correct Sony? AC adapter has been used, and not a third-party replacement AC adapter. To look for the model number of the AC adapter for your computer, refer to the specifications available on the web. Manuals, Specifications and Warranty information for the Sony product is available online.
Connect the AC adapter straight to a wall outlet and not to a surge protector or extension cord.
Some AC adapters have a POWER LED indicator and could be confirmed as receiving power by ensuring the LED is lit. If the AC adapter is damaged, or the LED is not lit or continuously flickers when plugged into a working AC outlet, the adapter should be replaced. Parts or accessories for Sony? Products are available online through Parts & Accessories Sales.

Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the Power Switch for 5 seconds. Once that has been done, connect the AC power adapter again, after which attempt to turn on the computer normally with no battery installed.
When the computer ships with a built-in battery (one that cannot be removed), use a pin or paperclip to press the Battery Off button on the underside from the notebook. Once the computer is turned back on, this can reset the battery to its default state. The precise location of the Battery Off button are available in the Users Guide. Manuals, Specifications and Warranty information for the Sony product is available online.
Only genuine Sony batteries are supported to be used with VAIO? computers. Replacing the initial battery with a non-Sony battery may cause a variety of power related issues.
NOTE: If the computer turns on without the battery, the battery is either completely drained or defective. Put the battery back in, reconnect the AC adapter and charge the battery for 24 hours. If the issue still occurs, that battery may be the problem and will need to be replaced.
With the computer off, remove any extra Random Access Memory (RAM) that may happen to be added to the computer. Once removed, again make an effort to turn the computer on normally.
NOTE: If taking out the added RAM memory resolves the problem, check the computer specifications to ensure the memory modules meet the minimum requirements. If they do, the modules themselves might be defective.

The troubleshooting steps listed above should resolve your issue. For those who have completed all of the steps and also the issue is not resolved, service are usually necesary.
